Frank and Susan Petro Present Scholarship to Scott Kwiatek

In conjunction with Kids’ Chance of New Jersey (KCNJ), Petro Cohen Petro Matarazzo recently awarded their fourth consecutive “Doctorate Degree” scholarship to a student with financial hardship. Frank and Susan Petro presented the 2017-18 scholarship recipient, Scott Kwiatek of South Amboy, NJ, with a check for $10,000 at the KCNJ Gala on July 13, 2017.

Scott Kwiatek was just two months old when his father was tragically killed during a freak accident at work.  It was a life changing event, which left Scott’s mom struggling with finances. “Without the help of the generous scholarship that Petro Cohen and Kids’ Chance provided to me, I would not have been able to afford a college degree at my dream school, NJIT,” Kwiatek said.

If you know of a deserving student whose parent was fatally or catastrophically injured in a work related accident, we encourage you to direct him or her to  http://www.kidschancenj.org/scholarships/ for a scholarship application and more information on the award criteria.
