$10,000 scholarship awarded to NJIT student for the fifth consecutive year
NORTHFIELD, NJ – July 18, 2018 – “In our firm’s 20-year history, we have handled thousands of workers’ compensation cases and, unfortunately, have encountered numerous tragedies when a young child loses a parent due to a workplace accident. With that in mind, we are proud to support this important organization,” said managing partner Frank Petro, Esq., who heads the Workers’ Compensation Department at Petro Cohen, P.C..
Scott Kwiatek was just two months old when his father was tragically killed during a freak accident at work. It was a life changing event, which left Scott’s mom struggling with finances. “I am very grateful for the generous scholarship that Petro Cohen Law Firm and the Kids’ Chance organization have provided to me and am looking forward to graduation,” Kwiatek sai
Although busy completing his studies and working to support school expenses, Scott has still found time to give back to Kids’ Chance of NJ by working and speaking at KCNJ events, actively fundraising, interviewing fellow scholarship recipients on video, and serving on the KCNJ Gala Committee.
As an active member of the South Amboy community and a member of the volunteer First Aid Squad since he was 16 years old, Kwiatek has never been one to shy away from hard work or helping others. “Giving back is a value that has been instilled in me from a young age,” said Kwiatek. “Volunteering for KCNJ is my small way of showing my immense gratitude for all that the organization has done for me and my family.” Scott will be pursuing a job in accounting or marketing after graduation.
Representatives from Petro Cohen Law and Kids’ Chance of NJ will present his fifth scholarship award to Kwiatek at this year’s annual fundraiser gala taking place on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the Hilton East Brunswick. “We are very proud of Scott for his commitment and dedication in pursuing his degree while also working to support his studies. It is excited for us to watch as he finishes his last year of school and know he will be successful as he enters the workforce on a full-time basis,” said Petro.
