The attorneys and staff at Petro Cohen will be supporting Foster the Family this holiday season by collecting pajamas for foster children now through December 12, 2019.
“We are encouraging our team and our clients to help support this important cause by dropping off donations at our Northfield office location,” said Susan Petro, Managing Partner for Petro Cohen Petro Matarazzo.
All sizes of winter pajamas are needed, from preemies to adults (for older teen children). So that the children can use the pajamas throughout the cold winter months, Foster the Family has asked for any type of winter pajamas EXCEPT holiday specific ones. The pajamas should not be gift wrapped, but may be dropped off in their original packaging or on hangers.
The Foster the Family collection box is in the reception area of the Northfield office of Petro Cohen Petro Matarazzo in the Executive Plaza, 2111 New Road, Suite 202, Northfield, NJ 08225.
Foster the Family exists to support and encourage foster and adoptive families, mobilize and equip the community and church for foster care and adoption, and advocate for vulnerable children. On August 6, Galloway Township celebrated National Night Out with a special event for parents and kids. The annual community-building campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live.

The Galloway Township Education Foundation (GTEF) Third Annual Designer Purse Bingo took place Friday, March 8, 2019 and was a huge success with a sold out crowd! Petro Cohen’s Managing Partner, Susan Petro, is this year’s president of GTEF (pictured far right). Susan helped coordinate the event and donated the beautiful bike shown below, which was one of the many great raffle prizes. All of the money raised by the Galloway Township Education Foundation goes to support the students of Galloway Township schools, K through 8. The money from the Designer Purse Bingo is being used to fund educational field trips.
In support of Atlantic City local events, Frank and Susan Petro joined friends Samir and Neelma Patel at Savor Borgata for a fun food festival celebrating Borgata’s Masters Chefs. Throughout the weekend festival, guests enjoyed meals, cooking demonstrations, and hands on lessons from celebrity chefs Bobby Flay, Michael Symon, and Wolfgang Puck.

For the fifth consecutive year, Petro Cohen Petro Matarazzo has partnered with Kids’ Chance of New Jersey (KCNJ) to award a student with financial hardship a “Doctorate Degree” scholarship. The scholarship benefits young adults who have endured financial burdens due to the loss or serious injury of a parent during a workplace accident. The 2018-2019 scholarship recipient is once again South Amboy, NJ resident Scott Kwiatek, who is finishing a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).
The law firm partnered with the Kids’ Chance organization in New Jersey since the chapter’s inception in 2012. For the past five years, the Kids’ Chance organization has matched the funds donated by Petro Cohen to help a needy child achieve a bachelor’s degree.

Despite a bitter nor’easter, the Second Annual Galloway Education Foundation Designer Purse Bingo held on March 2, 2018 packed a full house and was a huge success. Proceeds from this important event raised money for the children of Galloway schools.

Frank and Susan Petro presented the 2017-18 scholarship recipient, Scott Kwiatek of South Amboy, NJ, with a check for $10,000 at the KCNJ Gala on July 13, 2017.
Scott Kwiatek was just two months old when his father was tragically killed during a freak accident at work. It was a life changing event, which left Scott’s mom struggling with finances. “Without the help of the generous scholarship that Petro Cohen and Kids’ Chance provided to me, I would not have been able to afford a college degree at my dream school, NJIT,” Kwiatek said.

Frank Petro is a former President of the leading professional organization for New Jersey workers’ compensation lawyers and judges, The Justice James H. Coleman, Jr. New Jersey Workers’ Compensation American Inn of Court, which has a membership of approximately 150 lawyers and judges throughout the State. He also served as one of 38 National Trustees for the American Inns of Court Foundation, the nation’s leading professional organization promoting legal excellence, professionalism, ethics, and civility for United States judges and lawyers, and held the position of Treasurer from 2008 to 2012. Almost 150,000 judges and lawyers across the United States have participated in the American Inns of Court program.
Congratulations to the City of Absecon and all of the dedicated individuals who worked tirelessly to build a lasting and beautiful tribute to those who lost their lives and were injured on September 11, 2001. The scholarship benefits young adults enduring financial burdens due to the loss or serious injury of a parent during a workplace accident. The 2016-17 scholarship recipient is Scott Kwiatek of South Amboy, NJ, currently pursuing a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).
Kwiatek was just two months old when his father was tragically killed in a building explosion while working at a medical transportation company. Scott says, “There were many days that I had wished I had a Dad around to talk to, play ball with and be proud of me. My Mom and I struggled financially.”
For three consecutive years, the Kids’ Chance organization has matched the funds donated by Petro Cohen to help a child attend a four-year college. Petro Cohen Petro Matarazzo has been a strong, active supporter of Kids’ Chance of America’s NJ state chapter since its inception in 2012. “Our hope is that this scholarship opportunity will help deserving young people pursue their educational dreams,” Frank Petro, Esq. said.
To be eligible for the scholarship program, applicants must have a parent who has been fatally or catastrophically injured in a work-related accident, meet the criteria of the New Jersey Workers’ Compensation Act, and have a resulting financial need.
